Ingredients
  

Bread Dough

  • 1 cup cooked wheatberries cooled and drained
  • 3 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp instant yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm water 110F/45C

Instructions
 

  • In a large bowl, combine warm water, honey, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes.
  • Add whole wheat flour, cooked wheatberries, salt, and olive oil. Mix well.
  • Knead the dough for 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1.5 hours.
  • Punch down the dough, shape into a loaf, and place in a greased loaf pan.
  • Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 35-40 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

For extra flavor, try adding a tablespoon of flaxseeds or sunflower seeds.
